NUCLEAR POWER
Nuclear power cannot be generated without Uranium. Uranium is a type of metal which can be found in numerous parts of the world. First Nuclear power station started in Cumbria England in 1956 to produce nuclear power plants to use for the engines with military ships and submarines. Nuclear power is able to produce up to 11% of the energy needed of the world and it is able to generates both huge and small amount of energy and fuels without getting any pollution.
Despite the fact that chain reaction which is inside a nuclear reactor produce heat in place, nuclear power stations and fossil fuel burning stations have the same process of producing energy. The heat is produced by nuclear fission which the reactor uses uranium rods as fuel, the neutrons which crash into the nucleus of the uranium atoms split into half and release heat energy out.The heat is taken away when the carbon dioxide gas or water is pumped all through the reactor to make steam, the steam power turbines which propel generator to generate electricity.
Although new clear power stations is considered as one of the most dangerous ways, it should not be something to be concerned about if things are being done properly. The only thing that I should take seriously concern about is the small amount of high-level nuclear waste from power stations because even though it is a small amount but it is very hard to take control and there is a high risk potential for accidents to happen.
Environment can be affect in both positive and negative ways. One of the good thing about nuclear power plants is that nuclear power do not discharge or release any sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide or nitrogen oxides which will not impact or contribute to the greenhouse effect. However, nuclear power plants will use a huge amount of water for producing and cooling which will remove a lot of water out of the lake and river. Furthermore, nuclear power must be close every 18 to 24 months to remove the uranium fuel that has been used and replace them with the new one, by removing the old uranium fuel it will cause problem such as generating radioactive waste. Lastly, waste generated from uranium can pollute and adulterate groundwater and surface water resources with radioactive uranium and heavy metals.

ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE
ADVANTAGE:
1. Relatively low cost It cost the same amount money which needed for coal but can produce more energy. 2. Base load energy Nuclear power is able to produce a large amount of energy by using small amount of fuel 3. Low pollution Nuclear power do not produce any carbon dioxide which will contribute to greenhouse effect 4. High energy density Nuclear power is able to produce a large amount of energy by using small amount of fuel 5. Sustainable Nuclear power is reliable and produce a lot of waste |
DISADVANTAGE:
1. High cost on safety Although construction cost is low, a lot of money need to spend on safety. However, it is assured that once the safety is correctly set up. Everything will be safe. 2. Possible accident to happen Feasible high risk potential and very dangerous for accident to happen. 3. Radioactive waste must be sealed up and buried for many thousands of years to allow the radioactivity to die away |
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATION
Nuclear power plant has environment affects in many factors.Nuclear power plant does not emit any pollution into the atmosphere and does not release any contribution greenhouse effect gasses such as sulphur, carbon, nitrogen and other oxides. As well as the ashes which is combustion byproducts, nuclear power plant to not release any of these that may cause climate change, rain acidization, contamination of large cities and many other possible occurrence. Furthermore as the cost of land raise rapidly and progressively expensive, choosing the right land for the nuclear power plant is one of another big concern. There is the differences significant on different energy sources. The right size for nuclear power plant is between 1 and 4 km2, solar land size dis between 20 and 50 km2 and biomass land size is between 4.000 and 6.000 km2.
Nuclear power can easily contaminates water supplies with radioactive substances. During the process of mining materials which is processed in nuclear power plants like uranium and titanium comprise high risk potential of water to be contaminate especially the rivers or streams and ground water supplies. Lastly, exposure of nuclear power will certainly cause dead, health problem and cancer. By this, it means that safety is primary concern when constructing a nuclear power plant. However, there is no guarantee that the nuclear power plant is 100% safe though energy moguls claim that it is safe. Therefore, the joule island needs to ensure that everything is nicely organize and nuclear power plant is closed to clean all the nuclear waste when the time comes. The impact from exposure of nuclear power can cause infertility, health problems and deadly cancers with people who live nearby the nuclear power plant site.
